Welcome to Mrs. Verton's Page!
I am so excited to welcome everyone to my page. This is my eight year at GARS, and I absolutely love teaching here. Time definitely flies! Currently, I am the 6th-8th grade ELA and Reading teacher as well as the 8th grade homeroom teacher. I absolutely love teaching both ELA and Reading. We are always busy writing, analyzing new vocabulary words, fine-tuning our grammar skills, and breaking down literature. When I am not teaching, I enjoy time with my family. Both of my chilrdern are GARS alum. My son, James (20), is in his Sophomore year of college at McDaniel College in Westminster, Maryland. He plays football and is part of the Honors College program. He is majoring in kinesiology with Sports Coaching and History minors. My daughter, Julia (17), is a Senior at St. Elizabeth High School in Wilmington. DE. This year she is President of the student body, cheer captain for the second year in a row as well as countelss other in-school activities. She dances for Wilmington Ballet and is busy, busy, busy looking at colleges and applying! My husband, Steve, and I are busy keeping up with both of their schedules!
Grade 8 Parents - I am really excited to be the 8th grade teacher again this year! Our time at GARS is very special, especially during the 8th grade year. A lot of exciting things take place. Check your email frequently for information and updates from me. I know we are going to have a great year!
